Attend scheduled reviews
Early review may assess wounds, swelling, dressings, grafts, sutures or drains depending on the procedure. Missing a review to protect a flight or tourism booking can delay recognition of a problem.
Know the warning signs
Your written instructions should explain symptoms that need urgent contact or emergency assessment. Increasing pain, breathing difficulty, chest pain, marked swelling, bleeding, fever or sudden deterioration should not wait for a routine online message.
Use remote follow-up appropriately
Photographs, messages or a video review may sometimes support follow-up if the clinic confirms that this is appropriate and available. They cannot replace urgent assessment, physical examination or local emergency care when these are needed.
Prepare a handover for home
Keep the procedure summary, medicine list, wound-care plan, relevant results, clinic contact details and agreed review schedule. Ask what information a doctor at home would need if a concern develops.
Return to work, exercise and driving
Clearance varies with the treatment, pain medicine, movement, vision and healing. Follow the written plan rather than a social-media recovery claim or another patient’s timeline.
Flying after surgery
Air travel can add immobility and logistical risk after an operation. The surgeon should consider the procedure and your recovery before advising when travel may be reasonable; no website can guarantee a flight date.
Long-term results and further care
Swelling, scars, transplanted hair and collagen-related changes can mature over months. Maintenance treatment, scar care or later review may be discussed, while results and duration vary.

No. Remote communication may support selected follow-up when available, but some concerns and planned reviews require physical examination.
What should I do if I become unwell after returning home?
Follow the warning-sign and emergency instructions provided to you. Seek appropriate local medical care rather than waiting for a routine remote reply when symptoms may be urgent.
Will I receive written aftercare instructions?
Ask for procedure-specific instructions covering medicines, wound or graft care, activity, review dates, warning signs and contact arrangements before discharge.
Can I fly as soon as I feel comfortable?
Feeling comfortable is only one factor. The operation, clot risk, swelling, wounds, medicines and need for review also affect travel planning.
When can I return to work?
Work timing depends on the procedure, job demands, bruising, swelling, pain and healing. Your personal instructions take priority over general estimates.
Who handles complications after I leave Pakistan?
Discuss this before treatment. The plan should explain clinic contact, when local assessment is necessary and how relevant information can be shared with another clinician.
Are final results visible before I return home?
